Treasuring Your Threads
Garment Care Guide
Aelia is born from the belief that slow fashion can start small. From carefully selected materials to thoughtful repairs, every little effort is a push towards a circular future.
We invite you and your little ones to discover simple and thoughtful ways to extend the life of your Aelia garments, help keep textiles out of landfills, and conserve our natural resources.
Wash & Care
A little love goes a long way in preserving the beauty and quality of your Aelia pieces so they can be part of your little girl’s next adventure.
Our clothing does not need dry-cleaning and is best cared for right at home. We encourage handwashing them inside out in cold water (30°C) with a mild, natural detergent. If handwashing is not possible, using a laundry bag on a gentle cycle is the next best solution. Forgo the tumble dryer and line-dry or dry flat in a well-ventilated shaded area instead. This will help preserve fibers and colours.
Frequent washing, harsh chemicals and hot water can break down fibers, shrink clothes and impact the environment, so we recommend avoiding them. For more ways to look after your little girl’s clothes, keep your Aelia care label as a reference. It can be found under the garment along the seam on either side.
Repair & Repurpose
When your little one’s favorite piece starts to show signs of wear, don’t let go just yet. Mending a cherished garment allows your little girl to continue collecting memories with it.
Mending a beloved garment is a way of cherishing memories that it has been a part of and collecting more of them ahead
Make little fixes at home or take your garments to a seamstress for any desired alterations. For any buttons that may have come loose, we’ve included extra ones on your care label found under the garment along the seam on either side.
When your little girl outgrows her favorite Aelia threads, repurpose them into accessories such as hair pieces or a pretty purse. Memory bears, a dress for her favourite doll, or patchwork blankets are also wonderful keepsakes she can treasure for more years to come.
Rehome Your Pre-loved Pieces
If your little girl is ready to let go of a garment, consider passing it along. Whether handing it down to a younger sibling, cousin, or friend, or donating it to a local charity, your little girl’s clothing can bring much joy to someone else. Hosting a clothing swap with friends and family is another great way to keep these pieces in circulation.
As a conscious label, we’re constantly working on ways to close the loop together with you. Stay in touch with us through our newsletter so you can be the first to hear about any upcoming initiatives to create a more circular future.
